Hamburg’s four-masted barque PEKING is returning home with Heuking

Hamburg has a new landmark: The PEKING, one of the last remaining four-masted windjammers is mooring in the port of Hamburg again after three years of restoration. This marks the end of a decade-long odyssey that lasted from its launch in Hamburg in 1911, through its use as a nitrate transport ship on the Hamburg-Chile route in the 1920s, to the spectacular transatlantic voyage in a dock ship from New York to Hamburg in 2017. The PEKING will be part of the future German Port Museum, which the German government is funding with EUR 100 million. Legal advice on the complex project was provided by a team led by Hamburg-based Heuking Partner Dr. Martin Schellenberg.
