Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek supports InnovationCity Ruhr in "Homes of the Future" competition

March 16, 2012 saw the beginning of InnovationCity Ruhr's competition "Homes of the Future." Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised InnovationCity Ruhr on the contract negotiations with business partners and sponsors.

It is the objective of the project to renovate three existing homes (a one-family/two-family home, a multi-family home and a residential/commercial building) in the pilot territory of Bottrop such that the "plus energy house" standard will be achieved as best as possible. In the future, the buildings are to generate more energy than they are using. The competition will end on April 16, 2012.

The "Home of the Future" project is a part of the InnovationCity Ruhr pilot project that is unique in Germany. An entire city quarter with about 70,000 residents will be converted to a model quarter for energy efficiency within the next ten years. The specific objective: The demand for energy in the pilot territory should be reduced by 50 percent by 2020. This is to be realized through the use innovative technologies and proven measures to reduce CO2 in the areas of energy efficiency, decentralized energy generation, mobility, urban restructuring and smart energy.

"We are particularly pleased to support such an exciting and forward-looking project," said Dr. Ute Jasper, lawyer and partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek Düsseldorf, who advises on the project jointly with Dr. Kristina Neven-Daroussis, also lawyer at the firm's Düsseldorf office.
