Fuel cell train pilot project to start with Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek

Starting in 2020, emission-free fuel cell drive trains are to be used in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the future, 12 hydrogen-powered trains will replace diesel-powered trains on the routes from Essen to Borken and Coesfeld. Advised by Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, the VRR and NWL transport associations are looking for a vehicle manufacturer to supply and service for 30 years at least 12 trains for the RE 14 and RB 45 lines.

"We are pleased to assist in ensuring that this innovative project develops an ecological alternative to diesel vehicles," said Ute Jasper, Lawyer and Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. "It needs to be arranged and ensured that the vehicles are supplied and maintained, but also that the vehicles are supplied with hydrogen on a continuous basis," added Christopher Marx, responsible for designing contracts in the "Public Sector & Public Procurement" team.

Dr. Ute Jasper is one of the best known lawyers for public procurement and public infrastructure projects. She advises federal and state ministries, municipalities, and companies.
