A team led by Hamburg-based partner Dr. Lothar Ende of the law firm of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised the two shareholders of CruiseVision GmbH, Christian Paulick and Mirko Berloge, on the sale of a minority stake to BWK GmbH Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft. With BWK as a partner, the provider of photo and video products on ocean cruise ships intends to implement its growth strategy more quickly and expand its business model to new markets.
CruiseVision's photo and film solutions are used by up to 25,000 passengers daily on cruise ships worldwide. Presentation, ordering, and sales are handled on board. The digital visual experience world runs on self-developed interactive media terminals that are equipped with facial recognition software to present passengers, upon registration, all photos captured of them during the cruise. Passengers have the option of selecting the photos via touch screen and ordering them as printout or in file format. CruiseVision also offers guided bicycle tours for cruise passengers and wants to extend the concept to new market segments.
CruiseVision GmbH was founded in 2009 and is based in Schenefeld near Hamburg. The company has 14 permanent employees and employs some 95 freelancers.
BWK GmbH Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft is one of the oldest German private equity firms. Based in Stuttgart, the company pursues a long-term investment approach and is focusing on mid-sized businesses. BWK has holdings in 18 companies.
