A team led by Dr. Armin Frhr. von Grießenbeck, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in Munich, adviced Flughafengesellschaft München mbH and its wholly-owned subsidiary LABCAMPUS in a new hotel project on the Munich airport grounds. A “long-stay boarding house,” an apartment hotel with 230 units, is to be built in the “AirSite West” area. The management contract was signed two days ago, on December 17, 2019.
Following a prior Europe-wide tendering procedure under public procurement law, the advisory services comprised the drafting of the contracts including contract negotiations with the French ACCOR hotel group.
The “HYDE Living LabCampus Munich Airport” long-stay boarding house is part of “LABCAMPUS,” which will be built on 500,000 square meters spread across four quarters (which are referred to as clusters). The concept is an ideas center for the collaboration of interdisciplinary teams between businesses and across industries. The area is designed to attract companies with LABCAMPUS, as curator, acting as a link between firms and knowledge carriers, start-ups and global players, creatives and investors.
With the long-stay boarding house, LABCAMPUS will extend the existing offering on the airport grounds to include medium and long-term accommodation. The offer is primarily aimed at business travelers, mainly from the diverse user groups of LABCAMPUS.
The long-stay boarding house is the fourth hotel project on the airport grounds on which Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek has provided legal support to Munich Airport and drafted, negotiated, and concluded the respective contracts.
260 rooms in the medium price segment were already created at AirSite West when Novotel München Airport opened in 2010. At the time, Heuking had drafted the project development and the leasehold agreement including the associated negotiations.
The team led by Dr. Armin Frhr. von Grießenbeck also advised on the Ibis Styles Hotel project, a budget-style hotel opposite NOVOTEL with about 350 rooms scheduled to be completed by 2020/2021.
Flughafengesellschaft München mbH also relied on the expertise of Dr. Armin Frhr. von Grießenbeck when it awarded the management of the former Kempinski Hotel to US-based Hilton group.
