Kling Consult takes over SSP in a transferring reorganization

A team led by Dr. Helge-Torsten Wöhlert, Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in Munich, advised Kling Consult group on the acquisition of Munich-based architectural firm Architekten Schmidt-Schicketanz und Partner GmbH (SSP) as part of a transferring reorganization. All 40 jobs will be saved as a result of the takeover. SSP will continue to operate independently under the same name and will continue to operate its Munich office.

During the general renovation of Deutsches Museum in April 2019, the architectural firm had to file for insolvency due to impending inability to pay. The situation was caused by differences with the client Deutsches Museum in relation to fee claims as part of the general renovation of the museum’s collection building. Munich Local Court initiated insolvency proceedings against SSP on July 1, 2019, appointing Axel W. Bierbach from the law firm of Müller-Heydenreich Bierbach & Kollegen (MHBK) as insolvency administrator.

Kling Consult is a leading German planning and engineering company with some 260 employees working at eight sites. Architekten Schmidt-Schicketanz und Partner GmbH was founded in 1972. SSP’s projects comprise the entire range of architectural tasks, with a focus on site planning of public buildings and in particular on the renovation of listed buildings.
