Satcombw Stage 2

In 2006, the German armed forces commissioned a consortium consisting of EADS and ND SatCom to supply two military communications satellites and several fixed and transportable ground control stations.

The satellites are to be operated by the consortium in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center for a period of ten years. This system is to put personnel around the world in crisis areas into a position to communicate in a self-sufficient and flexible manner both with each other and the German crisis centers, thereby ensuring that the armed forces will be able to fulfill their future expanded tasks around the world.
