District of Lippe – Road Project Close to Contract Conclusion

The long anticipated road project of Lippe district is on the home stretch. The district of Lippe has requested that the remaining bidders submit the final binding offers. At present, a conclusion of the contract is expected in April, so that the 25-year construction maintenance contract for the Lippe district roads may commence on time on July 1, 2009.

This novel plan has a pilot character. It will lead to road maintenance in the Lippe district no longer being carried out according to the budgetary status, but rather according to traffic-related requirements. In the next 25 years, a private building contractor will see to it that the roads are in a sound condition. Instead of patchwork, the substance of the district road network will be maintained. “Cracks, repairs and other impairments of road quality will thus be a thing of the past. In the long run, timely maintenance measures and the discontinuation of individual bid requests will lead in the long-term to more economic and qualitatively better road management in terms of economics and quality," Dr. Ute Jasper, attorney and Partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, is glad about the progress of the project.

Attorneys Dr. Ute Jasper and Dr. Hans Arnold have already provided the district with legal advice on the implementation of the project ever since the feasibility study in 2005.
