Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek Provides Support to Essen In New Stadium Construction

With vast majority, the City Council of Essen ultimately paved the way for a new soccer stadium at Hafenstraße. Following a construction period of 30 months, the Rot-Weiss Essen team, which is boasting a long tradition, will offer a stadium capacity of 20,000. The new arena, however, will not only be used as a soccer arena. It is to become a stadium for the entire city – with numerous multi-use options.

Since the general contractor services for stadium construction had already been awarded, the contractors for shell construction and steel construction are to be determined soon. City-owned GVE, which is responsible for the construction project, intends to select the most economic offers for the various award procedures in a competition in the near future. The construction site has already been prepared so that building construction may commence as of the coming spring.

Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, represented by partner Dr. Ute Jasper and lawyer Jens Biemann, provides counsel on all legal matters in designing and implementing the award procedures.

The Düsseldorf-based team led by Dr. Ute Jasper successfully provided support to high-profile stadium projects in the past, such as the new Tivoli in Aachen or the state-of-the-art grandstand in Kassel.“
