HEUKING supports funds advised by PREMIUM Equity Partners GmbH in FilaTech Group’s generational change
With a team led by Dr. Stefan Duhnkrack, Partner at the Hamburg office, HEUKING legally advised funds advised by PREMIUM Equity Partners GmbH on the acquisition of a majority stake in FilaTech group based in Remagen/Rhineland-Palatinate. A significant minority stake will continue to be held by the owner families. Dr. Thomas Müller and Heinz Landsberg, the two senior general managers and company founders, will remain on the management board for a transitional period and will then join the company’s advisory board. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
Employing nearly 80 people, FilaTech has stood as the world’s leading independent system supplier of hollow fiber spinning systems for over 25 years, specializing in the production of membrane fibers used in dialyzers for washing the blood of kidney patients. Given the increasing global incidence of kidney disease and the widespread reliance on end-stage dialysis, there is an escalating demand for dialyzers and the filter materials essential for effective blood purification. FilaTech has successfully installed more than 40 systems worldwide and continually advances these technologies to maintain its leadership in the field. The company also excels in manufacturing gas separation and water purification systems, employing similar principles in filter production. Additionally, a smaller affiliate company, co-located with FilaTech, specializes in the cleaning of metal filters.
Founded in 2011, PREMIUM Equity Partners is an investment firm that specializes in supporting robust niche companies within the German-speaking region, targeting businesses with annual revenues between EUR 10 million and EUR 50 million. PREMIUM provides capital for growth financing, succession planning, and spin-offs.
Alongside the families and new CEO Robert de Deugd, PREMIUM will support on growth opportunities and an impressive project pipeline. The firm aims to advance geographical diversification and broaden the product range into technical applications, including gas and water membranes.
