Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek opens office in Zurich

As from March 2008 Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek will be the first large independent German law firm to have an office in the Swiss financial centre of Zurich. The office will be headed by Dr. Holger Erwin, M. Jur. Oxford (37) who joins the firm to strengthen the existing Swiss practice group consisting of Dr. Dieter Bohnert (59), Dr. Armin Frhr. von Grießenbeck (46) and Dirk Kolvenbach (52). The office will be located in the heart of Zurich at Bahnhofstraße 3.

Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek is one of the few large German law firms who have maintained their independence from Anglo-American firms. Currently, the firm has approximately 200 lawyers with seven offices in Germany and one office in Brussels. The new Zurich office results from the firm’s long established Swiss operations. "Our decision for Zurich was driven by client demand. Our activities in Switzerland have reached a volume which cannot be sustained by flying in and out of Switzerland any longer. We are very pleased now to be able to assist our clients directly where they are located." (Dr. Dieter Bohnert, managing Partner of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek)

Dr. Holger Erwin, the new head of the Zurich office, boosts Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek’s Private Client and Corporate practice: Having started his legal career at German top law firm Hengeler Mueller, he worked with international law firm Allen & Overy LLP in London and Frankfurt before joining German tax and corporate boutique Haarmann as a partner. He is qualified both as a German Rechtsanwalt and as a UK solicitor; his core practice areas are Private Client, Corporate Compliance / Stock Corporation Law, Corporate and M&A.
The new Swiss office will restrict its practice to matters of German law. Key areas are Private Client and – jointly with Swiss law firms, banks and institutions – cross-border advice for Swiss and German clients. Dr. Erwin: "We come to Zurich to foster close and friendly relations with our Swiss colleagues; our objective is to add to their services German law related advice. We combine unique accessibility on the spot with the full know how of a large German law firm."
