Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport regional passenger rail awards

The state of Baden-Württemberg is about to re-award a number of networks or lots in regional rail transport. Numerous new vehicles of up to 150 vehicles per lot will be required for the lines to be awarded. For some routes, contractors will have to use innovative trains, for example operated by hydrogen propulsion or quick-charging batteries. Each year, some 83.9 million train kilometers are to be provided. In order to attract as many providers as possible to participate in the award procedure, the state intends to use innovative vehicle financing models.

Our services

We advise the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport on all award procedures related to regional rail transport, developed vehicle financing models, draft award documentation and contracts, and support state-owned public transport company Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg in all procedural issues.

With our support, network 6 b, rapid transit railway Rhine-Neckar, at a total of about 6 million train km including the transfer contract at about 39 million train km/year, was financially successfully concluded. Other award procedures are to follow, including the award of network 8 (Ortenau railway operations with innovative trains).
