HEUKING advises Kamstrup on the Acquisition of eBZ GmbH
A HEUKING team led by Düsseldorf partner Dr. Martin Imhof provided comprehensive legal advice to the Danish Kamstrup Group in connection with the acquisition of eBZ GmbH.
The Kamstrup Group is an internationally active provider of metering solutions headquartered in Denmark. In Germany, Kamstrup is already active in the water, heating, and cooling sectors. With the acquisition of eBZ GmbH, Kamstrup is expanding its German business into the electricity sector.
eBZ GmbH is an innovative specialist in electricity consumption measurement and a manufacturer of electricity meters. Founded in 2014, the company develops and manufactures high-quality electricity meters in Bielefeld that are tailored to the technical and regulatory requirements of German energy suppliers. eBZ works with numerous German distribution system operators. Following a successful generational change in management, the company is now led by Michael Schwetje. The sellers include the company’s founders and the Gelsenwasser Group as the anchor investor.
Kamstrup will continue to operate the Bielefeld facility and plans further investment in the site and its production. With this step, Kamstrup is significantly strengthening its position in the German market and expanding its investments in Germany and Europe. The digitalization of utilities and increasing electrification are placing greater demands on the energy system. Kamstrup therefore sees a growing need for reliable metering solutions tailored to the respective national regulations.
