HEUKING advises Miba AG on the acquisition of RENK's slide bearings business

The law firm HEUKING advised Miba AG on its acquisition of the Slide Bearings division from RENK Bearings GmbH, a company within the RENK Group. The team was led by Munich-based partner Dr. Mathias Schröder, together with Dr. Ulrich Jork and Dr. Björn Biehl, M.Sc. Finance (HEC Paris). According to Miba, this is the largest acquisition in the company’s history. The specific transaction was referred to the firm by a Supervisory Board member.

With this acquisition, Miba is taking over RENK’s plain bearing business, which manufactures standardized plain bearings for electric motors, generators, and pumps. These products are primarily used in industrial and civilian markets. The business unit is headquartered in Hanover and has operated under the name RENK Bearings GmbH since October 2025. According to Miba, the acquisition includes five production sites worldwide and approximately 500 employees. In addition to Hanover, these include locations in Brazil, the U.S., and Asia.

Miba is thus further expanding its plain bearing division, the Miba Bearing Group, internationally and strengthening its offering for industry and power generation. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Completion of the transaction is subject to the usual regulatory approvals.

Miba AG is a globally active Austrian industrial and technology company headquartered in Laakirchen. Its Miba Bearing Group division develops and manufactures plain bearing technologies for industrial applications and engines.

RENK Group AG, headquartered in Augsburg, is a leading provider of drive solutions for the military and civilian sectors and generated revenue of approximately 1.4 billion euros in 2025.

With this sale, RENK is focusing more strongly on its defense business.
