HEUKING advises on contract signing for new event hall in Krefeld

At the end of April, the City of Krefeld, supported by HEUKING, signed the purchase agreement for the acquisition of the Girmesgath site, including the historic boiler house. The notarization of the contracts on April 29, 2025 marks a key milestone in the planned redevelopment of the former boiler house on the Mies van der Rohe campus into a future event hall.

The boiler house is set to be transformed into a multifunctional venue with a focus on music and symphony concerts over the coming years. Completion is scheduled for 2031.The project will give the listed building a new purpose while creating a dedicated space for cultural events in Krefeld.

A HEUKING team led by Dr. Laurence Westen and Christoph Nöhles collaborated closely with the City of Krefeld to shape the legal framework under public procurement law, negotiate the contracts, and oversee the notarization process.
