Heuking successfully assists award procedure for the Digital File for the State of Berlin

With a team led by Partner Dr. Wolfgang Renner, Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek assisted IT Service Center Berlin in the “Digital File” award procedure. The invitation to bid was issued by the Senate Administration for the Interior and Sports of the State of Berlin, which awarded the contract for the introduction of the Digital File in all Berlin government agencies to Materna in an EU-wide award procedure. The total project volume is estimated at some EUR 200 million.

Materna will provide the standard software for the future ICT basic service Digital File by using the “nscale” software from manufacturer Ceyoniq. The Digital File allows for work processes to be handled electronically and also provides digital storage for all documents. It facilitates processing in administrative offices and constitutes a milestone in implementing the E-government Act.

The Senate Department of the Interior and Sports will implement the project for introducing the e-files software in the German state of Berlin jointly with project partners msg systems ag, IMTB Consulting GmbH, and Materna. Following a pilot phase, the digital file will be gradually introduced in all agencies of the State of Berlin. The IT Service Center Berlin, the central IT service provider for the State of Berlin, will assume technical operations. By 2025, the Digital File is scheduled to be introduced nationwide for about 70,000 PC workstations.
