Federal Republic acquires research vessel – Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek designs procedures and drafts contracts
The Federal Republic of Germany is buying a new fishing research vessel for more than EUR 80 million. The Federal Institute for Agriculture and Food awarded the order to replace the Walther Herwig III vessel to B.V. Scheepswerf Damen Gorinchem. Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised the Federal Institute for Agriculture and Food and the Federal Institute for Hydraulic Engineering during the bidding procedure and advised on the contract negotiations.
The new fishing research vessel will be put into operation in 2020 and will be used by the Thünen Institute for Research in the North Atlantic, the North Sea and Baltic Sea, and other ice-free sea areas.
"We structured the award procedure in such a way that the Federal Republic will benefit from the latest know-how of the bidders," said a delighted Ute Jasper, Partner and Team Leader at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. "This is why the concept and the technical equipment of the vessel were key for the award," added Christopher Marx, a lawyer in Dr. Jasper’s team, who is responsible for procurement law and contract drafting.
