India Business Law Journal recognizes Heuking once again as “Top International Law Firm”

In its 15th edition, trade magazine India Business Law Journal once again listed business law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek as a “Top International Law Firm.” As in the past, the award by India Business Law Journal recognizes the law firm’s long-standing commitment to India and to advising clients on important transactions in Indo-German business. “They seem to understand and appreciate the Indian client mindset.

In its annual “Intelligence Report” the magazine analyzes the India-related achievements and activities of more than 600 business law firms around the world. The results are based on the magazine’s own research and extensive consultation with corporate counsel and Indian companies. With its India Desk, Heuking is listed among the “Regional & specialist firms (worldwide)” and thus among the top national law firms with a strong Indian business.

While the Indian economy continues to be hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been surprisingly robust in the second wave. The slump in the economy turned out to be much less pronounced than in the previous year. According to the International Monetary Fund, economic output fell by some 8% in 2020. The outlook for the future, however, is already looking brighter. Economists have now adjusted their growth forecasts for 2021/2022 to between 9% and 10%. The World Bank expects GDP to increase by 10.1%. German and Indian companies are hoping for an early recovery of the Indo-German economic corridor, expecting significant sales and earnings growth until 2025.

The multitude of different regional restrictions, however, instead of a uniform nationwide lockdown, are still impeding business processes of Indian and international companies”, says Dr. Martin Imhof, Partner and Head of Heukings’ India Desk.. “As successful legal advisors in the India business for many years, we accept these uncertainties and risks that come with the pandemic and continue to guide our clients through these challenging times”, he adds.

The digital edition of the Intelligence Report with an overview of the top law firms can be found on the website of the India Business Law Journal.
