Team Jasper/Marx advises Baden-Württemberg on AI Innovation Park

The public procurement law team led by Ute Jasper and Christopher Marx advises the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs on the competition for the Artificial Intelligence Innovation Park. The lawyers of the firm of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek designed the award procedure and are organizing the entire process.
 
Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Baden-Württemberg’s Minister of Economic Affairs, has high expectations: “It is our objective to implement the AI Innovation Park in 2021. As the largest single measure of the state government to promote innovation in recent decades, the project supports our claim to be at the forefront of the huge global market of the future for artificial intelligence, specifically business-wise.”
 
“The competition is legally compliant, innovative, and efficient,” said Ute Jasper, Head of the Public Sector & Public Procurement practice group. “It will show at which site and with which partners the greatest impact for artificial intelligence can be achieved in Baden-Württemberg. It will be important to see how to accomplish the greatest leverage for cooperation, innovations, site quality, and sustainability with public funding.”
 
Participants of the competition are asked to develop a novel concept for the AI Innovation Park that provides for the most creative ideas possible on operator structure and technical infrastructure. In addition to a financing concept, the relevant criteria include information on the area and site of the AI Innovation Park as well as sustainability. The state will support the procedure with 50 million euros from its “BW state of the future – Emerging stronger from the crisis” reserve of the second supplementary budget 2020/21.
 
The AI Innovation Park is intended to form a nationally and internationally outstanding innovation and value creation center in artificial intelligence and to create an ecosystem to develop and implement new ideas. At the same time, the project is designed to make a substantial contribution to commercialize AI based in Baden-Württemberg.
