Top Law Firm in Public Procurement Law: WirtschaftsWoche awards Heuking

Once again, WirtschaftsWoche recognized law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek as one of the best law firms in Germany in public procurement law. The ranking lists the Practice Group leaders of the Public Sector & Public Procurement department, Dr. Ute Jasper and Dr. Martin Schellenberg, counting them among the most important and most renowned lawyers.

In an interview in the current issue of WirtschaftsWoche, Ute Jasper stressed her delight about the title of Top Lawyer: “It’s an honor for the team and me to receive this award once again.” Martin Schellenberg, Partner at the Hamburg office, added: “The top ranking is an excellent affirmation of our work.”

On behalf of WirtschaftsWoche, Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI), surveyed more than 1,100 lawyers at 124 law firms and asked them to rank their most renowned peers in public procurement law and environmental and construction planning law. Based on the resulting data, a jury compiled the expert list of 50 law firms and 68 lawyers in public procurement law.

Comprising 46 lawyers, the Public Sector & Public Procurement Practice Group is a large and important team at the firm. The lawyers in this Practice Group have been among the market leaders in public procurement law for many years. They accompany numerous large public sector projects with a total volume of more than EUR 40 billion.

Dr. Ute Jasper is one of the most renowned lawyers for procurement and infrastructure projects in the public sector. She advises federal and state ministries, municipalities, and businesses, particularly on innovative and complex projects. Ute Jasper is a Partner at the law firm of Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek where she heads the “Public Sector & Public Procurement” department. For years, she has been ranked number 1 in Public Procurement Law with her team in JUVE Handbook of Commercial Law Firms. According to “Law Firms in Germany,” she is the “premier contact on the market” for infrastructure. In October 2016, she received the JUVE Award for Regulated Industries with her team.

Dr. Martin Schellenberg has specialized in complex procurement procedures for more than 15 years. He has successfully secured several hundred EU negotiated procedures for the public sector, many of which were politically sensitive and under special public scrutiny. He also specializes in European state aid law. He is Co-Head of the Public Sector & Public Procurement Practice Group. In addition, he is a lecturer in public procurement law at Bucerius Law School, editor of the NOMOS Commentary on Public Procurement Law, and Technical Director of the Hamburg Public Procurement Day. He and his team are regular recipients of awards for their work, including from Handelsblatt, Who's Who Legal, or industry publication JUVE.
