Construction of Lübbecke city school finalized in record time
After a construction period of only 11 months, the city of Lübbecke will open the "Stadtschule Lübbecke" secondary school for the 2014/15 school year. The school was not only constructed within a very short timeframe, but also kept within the EUR 10.1 million budget estimated in the award procedure. Now the city of Lübbecke is able to start operations of a secondary school as one of the first municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The cities' secondary school is an all-day school and equipped for the instruction of students with and without handicaps. The school features about 30 classrooms, 15 differentiation rooms, 2 training kitchens, as well the entire administration and appropriate teacher areas. A space concept for individual learning had to be implemented for the secondary school. In addition, the school is also equipped for inclusion students with major physical handicaps. Among others, it has areas for patient gymnastics and physical therapy. The core is the cafeteria and school hall, which will not only provide hot meals to students and teachers daily, but because of its high-quality stage technology will also be made available for meetings of the city of Lübbecke.
"We are glad that the city of Lübbecke was able to realize this innovative project in record time and particularly within budget," Dr. Ute Jasper, partner at HEUKING KÜHN LÜER WOJTEK, was pleased to note. Jointly with lawyers Dr. Isabel Niedergöker and Stephan Freund, she planned and accompanied the award procedure, which was designed as a "package award." The example of Lübbecke also shows that package awards (planning and construction from a single source) achieve the desired objective faster and more economically than awarding individual architect and constructions services. After conclusion of the award procedure for planning and construction, Stemwede-based Depenbrock Bau GmbH & Co. KG had started the construction work for Lübbecke city school only on July 23, 2013.
