Dr. Frank Mitzkus re-elected chairman of the trotting horse breed association’s permanent arbitration court

Dr. Frank Mitzkus, Partner at the Hamburg office of business law firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, was re-elected chairman of the arbitration court of the trotting horse breed association Hauptverband für Traberzucht e.V. (HVT) by its general assembly for another three years. Dr. Johan-Michel Menke, LL.M., Partner in Hamburg, was also re-elected as his deputy.

The permanent arbitration court is HVT's supreme judicial body. As German umbrella association, HVT has supervisory responsibility for the entire trotting sport (breeding and racing) in Germany. After local race organizers and the "racing committees," which act as appeals courts, the arbitration court is the supreme court panel in this sports jurisdiction.

Mitzkus has extensive experience in cases pertaining to sports law. In addition, he has worked as an arbitrator in civil proceedings for many years and as a judge on the Lawyers' Disciplinary Court in Hamburg since 2001.

Menke is an expert in sports law, lecturer at Hagen University of Distance Teaching, at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, and at St. John's University in New York. In addition, he is an arbitrator at the German Court of Arbitration for Sports (DIS).
