Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek expands in Stuttgart with criminal tax lawyer Kiesel

Effective January 1, 2017, Dr. Hanno Kiesel (54) will join Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek's White Collar & Criminal Compliance practice in Stuttgart. The lawyer and tax advisor comes from Ernst & Young, where he was primarily responsible for setting up and expanding the tax compliance and criminal tax law divisions. He will start at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek's Stuttgart office as an equity partner.

Kiesel's advisory practice focuses on companies of all sizes and legal forms in Germany and abroad. He also advises management in all matters pertaining to tax disputes, criminal tax law, and tax compliance, as well as in connection with litigious tax audits, tax investigations, criminal and administrative offense proceedings, as well as self-reports. Additionally, he is an expert on tailor-made compliance management systems in tax law to prevent criminal liability. Kiesel is also working on legal appeals and fiscal court proceedings (including representation before the Federal Fiscal Court) and on leading investigations with the focus on "corruption" and "taxes."

"We are very pleased that Hanno Kiesel will join our Stuttgart office – his many years of experience intax law and, in particular, his excellent knowledge in compliance advice complement not only our practice at the Stuttgart office, but also increase the effectiveness of our white collar and criminal tax law practice," said Peter Ladwig, partner at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek's Stuttgart office.

The addition strengthens the White Collar & Criminal Compliance practice group in the south of Germany. The entire GSK Stockmann + Kollegen Stuttgart office had joined Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in 2015 and since then has gradually expanded its advisory services. Only in March, trial lawyer Jens-Hendrik Janzen had started in Stuttgart as an equity partner. With the addition of Hanno Kiesel, a further step has now been taken to broaden the advisory range, a path that is expected to be continued in Stuttgart.
