Manz AG invests in CUSTOMCELLS with Heuking

With a team led by Marcel Greubel, Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised Manz AG on acquiring a 40 percent stake in CUSTOMCELLS Tübingen GmbH, a specialist in the development and series production of state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery cells. The investment will allow the two companies to expand their cooperation further and to combine their expertise in battery cell production. High-tech equipment manufacturer Manz will also set up its own development environment for new cell production concepts in CUSTOMCELLS Tübingen’s neighboring premises. The participation is an important step for Manz towards realizing its objectives in the context of European battery funding project EuBatIn, by which the European Commission aims to promote research and innovation in the European battery value chain. CUSTOMCELLS will benefit from Manz AG’s expertise in series production in the field of electric flying and further expand its production capacities for the aviation sector. The parties agreed not to disclose financial details of the investment.

Founded in 1987, Manz AG develops and builds innovative and efficient production solutions with a focus on the automotive sector and electromobility, battery production, electronics, energy, and medical technology – such as customer-specific individual equipment for laboratory production or standardized modules and systems. CUSTOMCELLS develops and produces high-tech solutions in the field of electrodes, electrolytes, battery cells, and battery modules.
