NWL becomes interim shareholder of Eurobahn with HEUKING
Westphalia-Lippe Local Transport Association (NWL) has taken over eurobahn GmbH & Co. KG as an interim shareholder. The goal of the takeover is to secure the continued existence of the company, protect jobs, and maintain regional rail services in the Westphalia-Lippe region. NWL aims to stabilize the financially distressed rail operator to the extent that a resale can take place as soon as possible. eurobahn will continue to manage its operational business independently.
NWL is the public transport authority for the Westphalia-Lippe region, headquartered in Unna. It is responsible for organizing and financing local rail passenger services across the Münsterland, East Westphalia-Lippe, South Westphalia, and Sauerland regions. Representing 206 towns and municipalities, NWL oversees a rail network spanning 1,793 kilometers. Its core mission is to ensure a reliable, efficient, and sustainable local transport system.
A HEUKING team led by Dr. Ute Jasper and Dr. Christopher Marx closely collaborated with NWL, laying the groundwork for the takeover of eurobahn. The team advised on matters of public procurement law, contract law, municipal law, and corporate law.
