Thalia takes eBooks into the cloud with Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek

Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek advised bookseller Thalia on setting up a collaboration with Verlagsgruppe Weltbild, Hugendubel, Club Bertelsmann and Deutsche Telekom to establish a distribution platform for electronic books.

Thalia is one of Germany's leading brick-and-mortar booksellers. Jointly with the other booksellers Verlagsgruppe Weltbild, Hugendubel and Club Bertelsmann, Thalia intends to use synergies for operating a digital distribution platform for eBooks in the future. The distribution platform is based on cloud technology realized and provided by German Telekom allowing consumers in the future to read their eBooks on various devices and use online storage space for their digital libraries. The booksellers will sell the reading devices and offer instructions on their use.

Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek has been retained by Thalia Holding GmbH in IT law for the first time in this connection.
