Convini Takes Over Part of the Business Operations of the Berlin Food Start-Up HelloFreshGO out of Insolvency

A Heuking team headed by Dr. Marc Scheunemann advised Convini Deutschland GmbH during the takeover of part of the business operations of HelloFreshGO GmbH. Ulrich Ziche from the Swedish law firm Vinge led the takeover.

The Berlin startup HelloFreshGo found itself in financial difficulties due to the coronavirus. With the sale of the business in Berlin, Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia, it was already possible to secure business operations on June 1, 2022 — the first day of the insolvency proceeding.

As part of an asset deal, Convini is taking over HelloFreshGo's Berlin headquarters, most of the employees and almost all of the 200 customers in Northern and Central Germany. Foodij marketplace GmbH is taking over the HelloFreshGO locations in Munich, Stuttgart and Frankfurt. The investor solution has made it possible to safeguard a large proportion of the jobs throughout Germany.

The Berlin startup HelloFreshGO was a subsidiary of the recipe box provider HelloFresh and specialized in the operation of smart food terminals for business customers. Its focus was on providing office workers with packaged meals and beverages. The all-round service package includes menu planning, operation and maintenance of the terminals, payment processes and deliveries.

Convini Deutschland GmbH — a subsidiary of the Swedish Convini Sverige AB — is pursuing a similar concept to HelloFreshGo and supplies business customers with smart refrigerators that are filled with packaged meals for employees.
